Batman Heng-Ching Chang was born in Beigang Township, Yunlin County. He has done ecological conservation for twenty years. Now, he is the curator of the museum, Formosan Golden Bat's Home. In 1995, the first day he came to Shuilin Township, Yunlin County in summer. He found Golden Bats in the tree next to the museum. During the following years, he discovered golden bats’ main habitats, especially at Beigang and Shuilin Township. There are up to one hundred bats. However, the number is going down.
Thus, Taiwan Sustainable Union held a series of bat conservation activities in 2007. They brought a group of ladies creating an ecological conservation story. They shared the ideas around Taiwan, and hoped that people don’t develop, cut trees, and using pesticide. At the same time, through the Construction to Overall Community, they want to let the locals do conservation. They also bring the community’s people to another one. Besides, they hope that there are some good ideas will show up.
And then, he connect the resource from business, government, schools and the locals to build the museum in 2009. Through conservation and management, he succeed in protecting golden bats. Until now, the museum has become the most famous bats' museum in Asia.
